An Open Letter from USHJA President, William Moroney, Regarding the Cancellation of the USHJA Hunter Development Incentive Fund Program This summer, the USHJA will be entering its sixth year as the Federation Recognized National Affiliate for hunters and jumpers. As a rapidly growing organization serving more than 36,000 members, USHJA frequently reviews its programs and resources in a strategic manner to ensure that programs meet the needs of our members and supports the mission of the organization. This requires finding a balance between the rich tradition in which our sport is rooted and the new heights that our members' innovative vision takes the USHJA. In the first five years, the mission and path which USHJA needed to follow was clear and the programs and resources that were developed came from a deep need that was not previously met in our industry. As we look forward and plan for our future, the need to adjust certain aspects of our landscape has become evident. After a great deal of discussion and consideration, the USHJA made the decision to cancel the Hunter Development Incentive Fund Program (HDIF). A decision of this nature is never made lightly, yet one of the challenges of leadership and governance is making difficult decisions. As with all decisions made by USHJA, how our membership will be impacted is our first concern. USHJA recognizes the needs of the members that supported this program and will work toward providing alternatives in the future. The cancellation of the HDIF is effective April 13. Breeders and owners that had been enrolled in the program will receive a full refund for their nomination dues. As always I encourage your comments and questions. Each member has a voice that we want to hear. Please send any questions or comments to Programs and Task Force Manager, Sterling Berry at sberry@ushja.org or 859.225.6705. I wish each of you a safe and successful competition year. Sincerely, IHSA Nationals are Coming to Lexington, KY The IHSA Nationals will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, KY May 6-9.
