USHJA National Hunter Derby Expanding

The USHJA National Hunter Derby Program has grown, since its inception in 2010, to be a wildly popular class across the country, with all levels of horses and riders participating. To meet the growing demand for these classes, exhibitors will see USHJA National Hunter Derby classes being offered at USEF licensed "B" and "C" rated shows as well as "AA" and "A" starting with the 2012 competition year. Money won will continue to be tracked in 2012, and riders will be recognized for their achievements in addition to the horses. USHJA year-end high score awards for the 2012 National Hunter Derby series will be presented to horses and riders in each zone as well as nationally. In addition, the top scoring Adult Amateur rider in each zone will be receiving special recognition again in 2012.

Before competing in a National Hunter Derby all riders are required to sign the official USHJA Declaration Form, available in each horse show office, declaring a hunter section to be awarded Zone HOTY bonus points. Professional riders may choose to have their horses' bonus points awarded to their declared Pre-Green section or the Performance Working Hunter 3'3". Junior and Amateur riders may choose to have their horses' bonus points awarded to their declared Pre-Green section, Performance Working Hunter 3'3", or their applicable Children's, Pony, Adult Amateur or Amateur Owner Hunter 3'3" section.

Please visit the USHJA National Hunter Derby website for complete 2012 class specifications or contact Kelley Mallery at 859.225.6717.
