USHJA Junior Career Development
Program Receives First Applicant
_____________________________________________________________________________
The first applicant for the
USHJA Junior Career Development Program will be conducting their
"apprenticeship" next month. Full details of the experiences of the
apprentice and the mentor will be highlighted in the June, Youth Issue, of
USHJA In
Stride.
The purpose of the USHJA
Junior Career Development Program is to allow junior riders the
opportunity to be an apprentice for a day with a competition official,
i.e. judges, show managers, show secretaries, stewards, course designers,
vets and farriers
. The program will allow junior riders an opportunity to
have a better understanding of what goes on in these areas at a horse show
and to determine if they would like to pursue a career in these
positions.
The apprenticeship is
for 1 day, maximum of 8 hours and the participants must be USHJA
junior members between the ages of 14-18.

2007 USHJA Affiliate Awards Deadline Extension
_____________________________________________________________________________
USHJA is extending the deadline for the
USHJA Affiliate Awards Program. Organizations must renew
their membership or join before April 30, 2007 to be eligible to submit award winners. 2006 was the
inaugural year for the USHJA Affiliate Awards Program. 21 USHJA Affiliate
Organizations participated in the program. There are 47 USHJA
Affiliate Organizations already signed up for the awards program for 2007.
Don't miss the opportunity to have your affiliate organization be
a part of this special awards program.
