Time Is Running Out to Nominate for the Amateur Sportsmanship Award!

The goal of the Amateur Sportsmanship Award is to recognize Amateur Owner and Adult Amateur exhibitors who exhibit a degree of excellence and integrity by supporting their fellow competitors and volunteering their time and resources to various aspects of the industry. Examples of this include serving on committees, providing sponsorships and promoting the welfare of the horse. Success in the show ring is a secondary factor.

Nominations for the award may come from exhibitors, trainers, colleagues or peers. The nominee must be an Active or Associate member of USHJA. Members of the Amateurs Task Force are not eligible for nomination. Previous winners of the award are not eligible for further nomination, however, prior nominees are encouraged to be resubmitted for future consideration.

The deadline to nominate a deserving Amateur Owner or Adult Amateur is October 15, 2014

Provost and Kallisto win $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at Chicago Hunter Derby

Presented by Canadian Pacific

This past weekend, Tammy Provost and Kallisto won the Chicago Hunter Derby's $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, presented by Canadian Pacific, but they weren't the only winners. The charity event benefitted two local Chicago groups, the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, as well as the USHJA Foundation, the charitable arm of the USHJA that offers financial assistance to hunter/jumper equestrians in need, unique educational opportunities for hunter/jumper equestrians who face adversity, and support for educational grants and scholarships for hunter/jumper equestrians.

As a charity event, the show is still calculating funds raised for its benefitting organizations. The USHJA Foundation is pleased to be among those benefitting organizations. For more information about the event, and for complete results, visit www.chicagoequestriansforacause.com.
