Victoria Colvin Makes History in $100,000 WCHR Peter Wetherill Palm Beach Hunter SpectacularStory1

Wellington, Florida──February 15, 2015──For the fourth consecutive year, Victoria Colvin starred under the lights of the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center's International Ring and claimed top honors in the $100,000 WCHR Peter Wetherill Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular. She's the first rider in the event's 19-year history to claim victory four times.

Lexington, KY-February 25, 2015-As top professionals, amateurs and juniors faced off in the $100,000 WCHR Peter Wetherill Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular, more than 460 spectators gathered in the International Club to watch the competition, enjoy great food and drink and raise funds for a worthy cause. The annual gala raised more than $185,000 in net proceeds, topping the event's record-breaking fundraising from last year, to support the USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider Program, a program that in part benefits the USHJA Foundation Horseman's Assistance Fund.

USEF Announces Moratorium on Federation-Generated Protest MeasurementsStory3

The USHJA and the USEF have announced that there will be no Federation-generated protest measurements of equines competing in hunter and jumper divisions in the 2015 competition year. This moratorium on Federation-generated protest measurements does not preclude members from protesting other members during the 2015 competition year.

 

As discussed at the annual meetings, USEF and USHJA are dedicated to producing a better equine measurement system. It is our goal to develop a fair and accurate system for our members. Numerous issues have been identified and will be addressed over the 2015 competition year in order to have a new system in place for the 2016 competition year.

Have You Tested Your Horsemanship Knowledge Yet? Registration Now Open for the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge!Story4
Registration for the 2015 USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge, presented by Sweet Briar College, is now open at www.ushja.org/HQC. Young equestrians are encouraged to test their horsemanship knowledge by completing the online practice quiz and the Level One and Level Two Quizzes. Participants who excel will be eligible for selection to compete in the 2015 HQC Nationals where they can win a bevy of prizes including a $1,000 grant for training and education, provided by the USHJA Foundation,as well as a Charles Owen helmet.

New USHJA/IHSA Sportsmanship Award AnnouncedStory5

Fairfield, CT (February 26, 2015) The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), in collaboration with United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA), has opened nominations through March 15 for a newly-announced USHJA/IHSA Regional Sportsmanship Award. One student athlete in each IHSA region will be selected for this award, which aims to recognize the exceptional sportsmanship exhibited throughout all levels of riding. The winner will receive a prize furnished by USHJA and inclusion in the USHJA online magazine.
