Letter from the President: Fee Changes for 2016 letter

Dear Members,

We thank you for your membership and your passion for this sport. We are committed to serving you through excellent programs, rules and recognition/awards, offering a robust set of programs and resources to support the sport and the well-being of our equine partners.

Over the last 10 years, the USHJA has experienced exponential growth in its membership, beginning with just 26,000 members to serving more than 44,000 members today. After a comprehensive review of the Association's current and future needs and after nearly four years without any fee changes, the USHJA Board of Directors unanimously approved the following fee changes to support the sport's significant growth, along with growing member needs:
  • 2016 annual membership fee for active/competing members is changing from $70 to $85, which equates to $240 for three-year memberships ($5 per year discount).
  • There will be no change to the Life Membership fee.
  • Effective December 1, 2015, one-time horse registration fee is changing from $30 to $75.
  • The USHJA Fee (formerly called USHJA Zone Support Fee) is based on a competition's highest hunter or jumper rating, whether it is a Hunter-only, Jumper-only or combined Hunter/Jumper competition. Effective December 1, 2015, if a competition's highest hunter rating is National (A) or Premier (AA) or if a competition's highest jumper rating is Level 4 or above, the USHJA Fee is $7.The USHJA Fee at all other competitions remains at $2.
