LEGISequine.com Looks Back on 2011 and Forward to 2012

December 15, 2011

Founded in 2010, LEGISequine.com really hit its stride in 2011 and was able to support the industry in a number of different ways. One of the most significant activities was working with its primary underwriter, Markel Insurance Company, to sponsor the USHJA’s Trainer Certification Program, which is founded on four cornerstones that align closely with how LEGISequine.com and Markel do business: horsemanship, integrity, education and tradition.

This voluntary continuing education program was created to encourage professional horsemen in the hunter/jumper industry to take advantage of the professional support provided by the program. Participants of the TCP benefit from improved teaching skills in the American Hunter/Jumper Forward Riding System and the opportunity to exchange ideas with other professionals in the program, and graduates are listed in the USHJA Certified Trainers Directory as a resource to prospective students. They also enjoy increased credibility and insurance premium discounts through LEGISequine.com.

"The TCP is a very worthwhile program and we feel good about supporting it because it aligns so closely with our values," said Marnye Langer of LEGISequine.com.

As LEGISequine.com closes the books on 2011, the staff looks forward to new opportunities in 2012. In recognition of the value of on-the-hip technology in improving everyday life, LEGISequine.com is sponsoring the new USHJA "At the Gate" smartphone application, where users will have access to ring schedules, rules, and other useful information right at their fingertips. "We all lead busy lives," Marnye commented. "With technology like this, it can make our lives a little easier and more streamlined so we can focus on our primary business. I think this will be especially valuable for trainers. We also feel this application aligns well with how LEGISequine.com does business."

Sarah Berry, also of LEGISequine.com, added, "Our clients depend on us to know all the ins and outs of insurance and give them exactly what coverage they need so they can concentrate on running their business, training horses and teaching students."

"The 'At the Gate' application came out of suggestions from certified trainers with what they said would be helpful for them to be able to access quickly, and usually at the in gate," explained Shelby French, CEO of USHJA. "LEGIS sponsors the TCP, so it was logical for them to sponsor this, as well, since it's for trainers."

LEGISequine.com is truly invested in the horse industry; it's not just a tag line. The company is staffed by horsemen who represent several aspects of the industry, allowing them to truly understand the needs of their clients. Marnye Langer is an amateur hunter/jumper rider; Berry is an amateur eventing rider; Matt Harris is a young professional and USEF jumper judge; and Larry Langer, who serves as an adviser, is a veteran professional, having many years of experience in riding, training and event management.
