The Sunny Stevens Stable Manager Award was created to honor Sunny’s passion for stable management education and dedication to the USHJA Emerging Athletes Program.
$1,000 is awarded annually to one USHJA Emerging Athletes National Training Session stable manager participant for the purpose of further education.
The USHJA Emerging Athletes Program is unique in that it was the first training program to put equal emphasis on riding and stable management. Stable managers have always been included in the EAP National Training Session with an outstanding stable manager recognized there. This person is selected by the clinicians and the EAP Committee and receives prizes from USHJA sponsors. This award elevates that recognition in the same way that the overall riding participant winner is recognized and shines a spotlight on the importance of stable management education.
The winner receives needed recognition, further connections in the Hunter/Jumper sport, and funds to help further one’s stable management education.
There is no application for this award. The EAP Committee will select the recipient of this award from the pool of USHJA Emerging Athletes National Training Session participants based on knowledge, work ethic, ability to manage a barn and staff, people skills, and passion for stable management. The award will be distributed as a reimbursement of expenses or as a direct payment to the vendor and the winner will have one year to utilize the award. The EAP Committee will work to place the winner with an approved industry professional and the award money may be used for travel expenses, room and board, or another educational opportunity as approved by the committee.
