Instructor Credential Continuing Education

The USHJA Instructor Credential values a commitment to personal and professional development and a dedication to continuing education. USHJA encourages Instructors to continue growing their knowledge base in teaching, coaching, horsemanship, riding theory, stable management, small business and marketing, law and ethics, and many other aspects of the industry.

The Instructor Credential will require continuing education every three years to help Instructors grow in these areas. Renewal must be completed by November 30 of the renewal year.

Renewal requirements:

  • Current USHJA membership (above the Outreach level)*
  • Current Safe Sport Training*
  • Review any refreshed core content courses (if applicable)
  • Updated background check
  • One of the following USHJA-approved continuing education items:
  1. 1. Complete a renewal module to include new online content and quizzes ($75) 
  2. 2. Submit a video teaching a current riding lesson for review and critique by an Examiner ($225)
  3. 3. Attend a Credential Live Session ($450)

Renewals are accessed via the Credential dashboard in your USHJA online account.
