Equine Retirement Facilities
The USHJA Equine Retirement Facilities List, presented by the USHJA Horse and Rider Advocates Committee, is a resource for locating reputable retirement facilities for retired sport and competition horses. The directory is vetted annually to ensure that all listed facilities are current and maintain industry standards for basic horse care.
Interested facilities may apply to have their facility listed by completing the Equine Retirement Listing Information Form. Applications must include the contact information of three references (one of which must be a veterinarian familiar with the operation of the facility) and list a staff member with a current USHJA membership at any level. Applications will be reviewed and references will be contacted. The retirement listing will be reevaluated every 12 months to maintain the most up to date information.
The following is required for consideration for inclusion on the Equine Retirement Listing:
- Complete the Equine Retirement Listing Information Form
- One staff member must have a current USHJA membership above the Outreach level
- List three references with contact information included. One must be a veterinarian familiar with the operation of the facility. References may not be employees of the applicant facility
