"Partnering in Excellence" honored the alliance between the USHJA and the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) and celebrated the IHSA’s 50th Anniversary in 2017.
The mission of the IHSA is to provide equestrian competition for all college and university students regardless of riding level, gender, race, sexual orientation or financial status. The IHSA is dedicated to promoting sportsmanship, horsemanship and academic excellence.
Founded in 1967 to provide all undergraduate students with the opportunity to ride and compete on their college or university's equestrian team, the IHSA is now the largest and oldest collegiate equestrian organization of its kind in North America. More than 400 educational institutions in the United States and Canada participate, with more than 10,000 Hunt Seat Equitation, Western Horsemanship and Reining riders and coaches involved each year.
