2022 Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships Qualifying Lists Now Available

Lexington, Ky.—Oct. 21, 2022—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is pleased to announce that qualifying lists and wait lists are now live for each section of the 2022 Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships at The Las Vegas National CSI4*-W, November 14-20, in Las Vegas, Nevada. More than 1,300 applications were submitted in order to qualify and over 1,000 entries have been accepted to compete from 2’ Hunters and Equitation to 1.30m Jumpers.
 

Late applications are now open and close November 14. Members who do not appear on a qualified or wait list but entered the Championships may contact Ryegate Show Services at annettel@ryegate.com for more information about their application status.

The USHJA National Hunter Championships, held in conjunction with The Las Vegas National Horse Show, will include individual championships for Amateur Owner Hunters, Junior Hunters, Pony Hunters, Adult Amateur Hunters, Children’s Hunters and Green Hunters. Specialty classes for Hunters include two $25,000 USHJA National Hunter Derbies, one Open and one for Juniors and Amateurs, and 3'0"/3'3" and 3'6"/3'9" USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Stake classes.
 

The USEF/USHJA National Jumper Championships will offer $140,000 in prize money across nine sections of competition from 1.00m to 1.30m for Junior, Amateur and Open Jumper competitors. Each Jumper section will consist of a Welcome class, Speed class and a Grand Prix.
 

Competition will also include the USHJA National Equitation Championships for Juniors and Amateurs, and three Equitation medal classes—the 3’3” USHJA Hunter Seat Medal, 3'3" EMO Insurance/USHJA Jumping Seat Medal class and USHJA 3'3" Adult Jumping Seat Medal.
 

The USHJA National Championships also feature the USHJA Affiliate Championships, which includes Hunters and Equitation from 2' to 2'6" and 0.70m to 1.00m Jumper competition for selected members of USHJA Affiliate Organizations, as well as Outreach members who have been awarded the Outreach Golden Backstage Pass.
 

Members qualified largely based on Zone Horse of the Year points or Zone events between December 1, 2021, and September 27, 2022, with qualifying requirements differing based on the division. Affiliate Competitors were selected through each individual Affiliate organization based on which entrants they deem most qualified to compete and represent their organization.

In addition to the competitive opportunities, the Championships will include free educational opportunities for exhibitors and attendees. Tonya Johnston, MA, will lead two Mental Skills Coaching sessions, a Judge with the Judge session will be held during the $25,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby open section, and a top rider and trainer will host course walks throughout the week. New this year, participants can earn wristbands for each clinic they attend to win a prize from USHJA sponsors.
 

The Las Vegas National, CSI4*-W, managed by Blenheim EquiSports, runs simultaneously with the Championships, offering an FEI International division culminating with the $150,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Las Vegas as well as highlight classes throughout the week. For an admission fee of $30, Saturday evening’s pre-show fun begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes a photo booth, face painting, live entertainment, shopping, giveaways, and more. At 7:15 p.m., Opening Ceremonies begin with a Parade of Nations. An After Party and FEI rider autograph sessions will conclude the evening. All USHJA National Championships exhibitors will get two complimentary tickets to the Saturday night festivities.
