2022 Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships to Return to The Las Vegas National

Lexington, Ky.—April 25, 2022—The Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships are set to return to The Las Vegas National, CSI4*-W on November 14-20, 2022, pending USEF approval. Now in its fourth year, this year's Championships will offer expanded competition to include the new 3’3” Adult Jumping Seat Medal, 1.00m Affiliate Jumper sections, and extension of the Affiliate Equitation sections to include riders aged 17 and under.

The USHJA National Championships serve as a year-end competition for riders across the country to earn national titles at all levels. Hunter competition includes the following sections:

  • Amateur Owner Hunter 3'3" 18-35
  • Amateur Owner Hunter 3'3" 36+
  • Amateur Owner Hunter 3'6"
  • Small Junior Hunter 3'3"
  • Large Junior Hunter 3'3"
  • Junior Hunter 3'6"
  • Small Pony Hunter
  • Medium Pony Hunter
  • Large Pony Hunter
  • Green Hunter 3'
  • Green Hunter 3'3"
  • Green Hunter 3'6"/3'9"
  • Adult Amateur Hunter 18-35
  • Adult Amateur Hunter 36-50
  • Adult Amateur Hunter 51+
  • Children's Hunter Horse 14 & Under
  • Children's Hunter Horse 15-17

Specialty Hunter classes include 3'0"/3'3" and 3'6"/3'9" Green Hunter Incentive Stake Classes, as well as two $25,000 USHJA National Hunter Derbies—one for Juniors and Amateurs and another for Professionals.

Jumper competition consists of the USEF/USHJA National Jumper Championships for the following sections:

  • Low Children's Jumper – 1.0m
  • Low Adult Amateur Jumper – 1.0m
  • Children's Jumper – 1.10m/1.15m
  • Adult Amateur Jumper – 1.10m/1.15m
  • Junior Jumper – 1.20m/1.25m
  • Amateur Jumper – 1.20m/1.25m
  • Junior/Amateur Jumper – 1.30m/1.35m
  • Open Jumper – 1.20m
  • Open Jumper – 1.30m

Equitation competition ranges from Juniors to Adults, including three medal classes:

  • Equitation 14 & Under 
  • Equitation 15-17 
  • Equitation 18 & Over
  • EMO Insurance/USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal
  • USHJA 3'3" Hunter Seat Medal
  • USHJA 3'3" Adult Jumping Seat Medal

Members qualify largely based on Zone Horse of the Year points or Zone events between December 1, 2021, and September 27, 2022, with qualifying requirements differing based on the division. All entrants for all sections must pre-enter the competition with a non-refundable $100 application fee by September 27, 2022. Pre-entries for 2022 will open in the coming months.

The USHJA National Championships also feature the USHJA Affiliate Championships, which offers competition for selected members of USHJA Affiliate Organizations as well as Outreach members who have been awarded the Outreach Golden Backstage Pass.

Affiliate Competitors are selected through each individual Affiliate organization based on which entrants they deem most qualified to compete and represent their organization. Horses and riders do not have to be registered or members of USHJA to participate in these sections, and qualifying procedures vary by Affiliate. 

Outreach members who have been awarded the Outreach Golden Backstage Pass, based on points calculated as of September 27, 2022, are provided the opportunity to compete in the USHJA Affiliate Championships. Pass winners will also enjoy advanced registration for all education sessions.

A variety of educational opportunities will also be available to participants, free of charge, throughout the event.

The Championships will take place during The Las Vegas National, CSI4*-W, held at the South Point Hotel, Casino, & Spa's unique Arena & Equestrian Center. The Center offers an exceptional experience where riders and horses stay under one roof and exhibitors can also enjoy the spa, tables and slots, 64 bowling lanes, and nine dining establishments.
