2023 Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships to Return to Las Vegas this November

Lexington, Ky.—July 19, 2023—The fifth annual Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships are set to return to the South Point Hotel, Casino, & Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 13-19, 2023. Held during The Las Vegas National, CSI4*-W, this year's Championships feature national titles for Hunter, Jumper and Equitation competitors at a range of levels.

Hunter competition features Green Hunter Incentive Stake Classes and two $25,000 USHJA National Hunter Derbies—an Open and one for Juniors and Amateurs. The following divisions will crown champions throughout the week:

  • Small Junior Hunter 3'3"
  • Large Junior Hunter 3'3"
  • Junior Hunter 3'6"
  • Small Pony Hunter

Jumper competition consists of the USEF/USHJA National Jumper Championships for the following sections:

  • USEF/USHJA Low Children's Jumper National Championship – 1.00m
  • USEF/USHJA Low Adult Amateur Jumper National Championship – 1.00m
  • USEF/USHJA Children's Jumper National Championship – 1.10m/1.15m
  • USEF/USHJA Adult Amateur Jumper National Championship – 1.10m/1.15m
  • USEF/USHJA Junior Jumper National Championship – 1.20m/1.25m
  • USEF/USHJA Amateur Jumper National Championship – 1.20m/1.25m
  • USEF/USHJA Junior/Amateur Jumper National Championship – 1.30m/1.35m
  • USEF/USHJA Open Jumper National Championship – 1.20m
  • USEF/USHJA Open Jumper National Championship – 1.30m

Equitation competition ranges from Juniors to Adults and includes three medal classes:

  • Equitation 14 & Under 
  • Equitation 15-17 
  • Equitation 18 & Over
  • EMO Insurance/USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal
  • USHJA 3'3" Hunter Seat Medal
  • USHJA 3'3" Adult Jumping Seat Medal

The USHJA National Championships also feature the USHJA Affiliate Championships, which offers competition for selected members of USHJA Affiliate Organizations as well as Outreach members who have been awarded the Outreach Golden Backstage Pass.

All entrants for all sections, including nominated Affiliate competitors, must apply for the competition with a non-refundable $100 application fee by September 12, 2023. Applications will open in the coming weeks.

Qualifying requirements vary based on the section and are largely based on Zone Horse of the Year points or Zone events between December 1, 2022, and September 12, 2023. Qualifying lists will be made available after applications close.

Affiliate competitors are nominated through each individual Affiliate Organization, Qualifying procedures vary by Affiliate. Each Organization can nominate up to three horse-and-rider combinations per section. Affiliate Organizations must submit their nominations by August 20, 2023. Horses and riders do not have to be registered or members of USHJA to participate in these sections, and nominees will be notified of acceptance by September 1, 2023.

Outreach members who have been awarded the Outreach Golden Backstage Pass, based on points calculated as of September 1, 2023, are provided the opportunity to compete in the USHJA Affiliate Championships. Pass winners will also enjoy advanced registration for all education sessions.

A variety of educational opportunities will also be available to participants, free of charge, throughout the event.

The Championships will take place during The Las Vegas National, CSI4*-W, held at the South Point Hotel, Casino, & Spa's unique Arena & Equestrian Center. The Center offers an exceptional experience where riders and horses stay under one roof and exhibitors can also enjoy the spa, tables and slots, 64 bowling lanes, and nine dining establishments. The hotel room group code will be provided to competitors along with stall assignments once final show entries are made with the Blenheim Equisports show office.
