Dates and Locations Announced for 2023 USHJA Jumper Championships

Lexington, Ky.—Feb. 24, 2023—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is happy to announce the dates and locations for the 2023 Jumper championships held across the country. Twelve championships specifically for Jumper competitors will be offered this year, including the new USHJA 1.00/1.05m Child/Adult Zone Jumper Championships, Markel/USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships, Markel/USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships and the USHJA Young Jumper Championships.

USHJA 1.00/1.05m Child/Adult Zone Jumper Championships

A new opportunity for Jumper competitors in 2023, the USHJA 1.00/1.05m Child/Adult Zone Jumper Championships offer team and individual competition similar to that of the popular Markel/USHJA Zone Jumper Team and Platinum Jumper Championships. Riders will compete in one of five Championships held by combined Zones:

  • Zones 1 and 2: July 26-30 at HITS-on-the-Hudson V in Saugerties, New York

    • Applications close and qualifying ends June 11

  • Zones 3 and 4: July 11-16 at Tryon Summer 5 in Mill Spring, North Carolina

    • Applications close and qualifying ends May 27

  • Zones 5 and 6: July 12-16 at Lamplight Summertime II in Wayne, Illinois
    • Applications close and qualifying ends May 27
  • Zones 7 and 8: July 19-23 at Summer in the Rockies VI in Parker, Colorado
    • Applications close and qualifying ends June 4
  • Zones 9 and 10: October 18-22 at Temecula Valley National Fall 3 in Temecula, California
    • Applications close and qualifying ends September 3

For a chance to qualify, riders must complete an application, submit the $75 application fee and earn a minimum of 20 points in their respective section(s) at USEF-licensed competitions by their zone’s deadline. Visit ushja.org/lowzonejumper for more information.

Markel/USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships

New this year, the Markel/USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships will be held regionally. The Championships allow 1.10/1.15m Children's and Adult Amateur Jumper and 1.20/1.25m Junior and Amateur Jumper riders to compete as a team and individually in their Zone's corresponding region:

  • North (Zones 1, 2, 5 and 6): June 21-25 at the Traverse City Spring Horse Show in Williamsburg, Michigan

    • Applications close and qualifying ends May 7

  • South (Zones 3, 4 and 7): July 18-23 at Tryon Summer 6 in Mill Spring, North Carolina

    • Applications close and qualifying ends June 3

  • West (Zones 8, 9 and 10): October 18-22 at Temecula Valley National Fall 3 in Temecula, California

    • Applications close and qualifying ends September 3

Markel/USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships

Also moving to regional locations in 2023, the Markel/USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships offer team and individual competition for Junior, Amateur and Professional Jumper riders competing at 1.30/1.35m and 1.40/1.45m. Riders will compete at the regional location that includes their Zone:

  • North (Zones 1, 2, 5 and 6): June 21-25 at the Traverse City Spring Horse Show in Williamsburg, Michigan

    • Applications close and qualifying ends June 14

  • South (Zones 3, 4 and 7): July 18-23 at Tryon Summer 6 in Mill Spring, North Carolina

    • Applications close and qualifying ends July 11

  • West (Zones 8, 9 and 10): November 29-December 3 at Desert Holiday I in Thermal, California

    • Applications close and qualifying ends November 22

Riders qualify for the Championships by earning a minimum of $250 and submitting an application and $75 application fee by their Zone's deadline. Find more information at ushja.org/platinumjumper.

USHJA Young Jumper Championships

The third annual USHJA Young Jumper Championships showcase talented 4-, 5-, 6-, 7- and 8-year-old Jumpers at the national level. Four-year-olds will compete in a two-round Style and Jumping Championship, while 5- through 8-year-olds will compete over a three-round format. This year's Championship will return to the Traverse City Fall Horse Show in Williamsburg, Michigan, on September 5-10.

 

To be eligible for the Championships, horses must be enrolled, and incentives are offered for those enrolling three or more horses. Visit ushja.org/youngjumper for more information.

Additional opportunities for Jumper competitors include the USHJA Jumper Classic Series, which offers 1.10m to 1.40m Jumper riders an opportunity to earn additional prize money, Zone HOTY bonus points, and awards and recognition. The USHJA Outreach program gives members the chance to earn points toward year-end awards and to earn the opportunity to participate in the Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships. Outreach competitions and festivals held across the country offer Jumper classes from .60m to 1.20m. Held in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships bring Jumper riders of all levels under one roof to compete at the national level. The Championships feature the USEF/USHJA National Jumper Championships with competition from 1.00m to 1.30m and the USHJA Affiliate Championships, which include classes from .70m to 1.00m.
