Lexington, Ky.—Oct. 12, 2022—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is pleased to invite members to comment on Rule Change Proposals being considered for the 2024 competition year. Once signed into their USHJA member account, members may provide input on the proposals until November 12, online here. The list is sortable by tracking number as well as by chapter reference by clicking the header. Member comments are an important part of the rule change proposal process, and we look forward to their feedback.
At the same time members are providing input, USHJA committees and task forces are reviewing rule change proposals and providing comments as well. Following committee and task force review, the proposals are submitted to the Hunter and Jumper Working Groups for consideration. All amendments to the proposals are incorporated into drafts that will be presented during the USHJA Annual Meeting, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue in the Seattle, Washington, area from December 12-15.
At the USHJA Annual Meeting, USHJA will conduct a Rule Change Proposal Forum on Monday, December 12 at 7:30 a.m. PT, during which additional comments may be provided by attendees for consideration by the Hunter and Jumper Working Groups. This session will also be streamed live for those unable to attend in person. The Rule Change Proposals will then move forward to the USHJA Board of Directors with the recommendations and comments of members, committees and task forces, and the Working Groups for voting. The USHJA Board of Directors' votes on the proposals will be submitted to US Equestrian for their consideration and ultimately to a vote by the US Equestrian Board of Directors during their 2023 mid-year Board of Directors meeting in June 2023.
These rule change proposals remain proposals until the US Equestrian Board of Directors votes to approve, disapprove or defer each one. Their decision is the final step in the rule change proposal process each year. Rule changes are not immediately effective, so members should always check the effective date. The US Equestrian Rulebook and information about all US Equestrian Rule Change Proposals can be found here.
More information about the Rule Change Proposal process for rules affecting the Hunter and Jumper disciplines can be found here.
