Lexington, Ky.—October 16, 2019—The USHJA is pleased to welcome back Spy Coast Farm as the returning Educational Provider for the 2019 and 2020 USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Nationals, taking place Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10, 2019 at The University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.
“We are so pleased to have Spy Coast Farm returning as the Educational Partner of the 2019 and 2020 Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Nationals,” said Mary Babick, president of the USHJA. “It’s exciting to see so many young individuals passionate about horsemanship, and the internship serves as a great reward and for the hard work these students have put in."
The winner of HQC Nationals will be awarded a two month paid internship at Spy Coast Farm in Lexington, Kentucky over the summer of the year following the HQC Nationals. Through this special learning opportunity, the recipient will be able to experience all aspects of a Warmblood breeding and training facility by working with Spy Coast Farm's resident veterinarian and young horse trainer. Experiences include working in the barns and helping with routine care, turnout, and feeding of the mares, foals, and young horses; assisting the veterinarian with routine preventative care, neonatal care and foal watch duties, mare and stallion reproduction, and daily emergencies; and observing and assisting the young horse trainer with grooming and daily care of the young horses in training.
"Spy Coast Farm is delighted to partner with the USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge as an educational provider," said Lisa Lourie, owner of Spy Coast Farm. "For the past six years, each USHJA HQC winner has been awarded and taken the opportunity to intern at Spy Coast Farm. My experience has been that these internships have greatly benefited both the winner and Spy Coast Farm. We look forward to continuing this association."
