Lexington, Ky.—Feb. 11, 2025—The United States Equestrian Federation has approved a formal request by the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association to reverse the Presidential Modification to HJ123.6—affecting pony conformation classes—and return to the existing language in the 2025 Rule Book, which is effective immediately. USHJA made this request with the support and feedback from the USHJA Board of Directors. The request was made to allow USHJA and the USHJA Pony Task Force time to fully develop and submit the applicable rule change proposal(s) necessary to address existing concerns and issues. The Presidential Modification approved for WEF will remain in effect.
USHJA President Britt McCormick emphasized the importance of this transition, stating, "We thank the USEF for supporting our efforts to fully address this issue. This decision was informed by ongoing discussions and feedback from stakeholders across the sport. The reversal of this modification allows for a more permanent rule change proposal process to be discussed, socialized, researched, and enacted for 2026 and beyond. We remain committed to working with our members and partners to ensure the integrity and accessibility of our sport at every level."
USHJA will continue collaborating with the USHJA Pony Task Force and members to navigate the formal rule change process, ensuring that changes to the classes are shaped by member feedback and industry needs. Further discussions will take place in the coming months, and we welcome feedback and encourage members to engage in this process by sharing their perspectives at feedback@ushja.org.
