USHJA Announces New 1.0/1.05m Child/Adult Amateur Zone Jumper Championships for 2023

Markel/USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships and Markel/USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships Move to Regional Locations

Lexington, Ky.—May 2, 2022—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is pleased to announce the creation of the USHJA 1.0/1.05m Child/Adult Amateur Zone Jumper Championships, a new Jumper competition set to debut in the 2023 competition year.

Held by combined Zones, the new Championships will provide riders with a competitive team and individual experience and an opportunity to earn Zone Horse of the Year points in the 1.0/1.05m Children's and Adult Amateur Jumper section. The three-day format will emulate that of the current Markel/USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships and Markel/USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships with two rounds of team competition and three rounds of individual competition.

For a chance to qualify, riders must complete an application and earn a minimum of 20 points in their respective category at USEF-licensed competitions held with fence heights of that section during the qualifying period. For the inaugural year of 2023, the qualifying periods will vary by zone championship, beginning December 1, 2022, and ending 45 days prior to the competition. Dates and locations for the five Championships will be announced at a later date.

Also coming in 2023, the Markel/USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships and Markel/USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships will move to North, South and West regional locations. The Championships will be held with riders from Zones 1, 2, 5 and 6 attending the North Championship; Zones 3, 4 and 7 at the South Championship; and Zones 8, 9 and 10 at the West Championship.
