USHJA Opens Applications for Over $90,000 in Zone Grants and Scholarships

Lexington, Ky.—March 19, 2019—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is pleased to open applications for more than 50 Zone grants and scholarships, offering over $90,000 in funding to support members’ aspirations.

Each USHJA Zone Committee establishes grants and scholarships that support the needs of members in their area. Grants and scholarships support members pursuing higher education, participation in the 2019 Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund/USHJA Emerging Athletes Program, availability of educational clinics in a given zone, and other funding to support members as identified by zone committees. Grants and scholarships are offered at different funding levels with support from the USHJA Foundation.

“We recognize that our members are working hard to achieve their goals in the sport and academically,” said Mary Babick, president of the USHJA. “We’re thrilled that our Zone Committees have identified the needs in their area and that the organization is able to provide funding to support those needs. We are so thankful to our members and the many donors and supporters who help make these types of opportunities available within our sport.”

Grants are available to all members who hold a current paid membership (excludes free Outreach memberships) with the USHJA. Individual grant or scholarship criteria are outlined in the application. Members may access the grants and scholarships by visiting ushja.org/zones, selecting their zone and Grants & Scholarships within the drop-down menu.

The deadline to apply for a Zone grant for the 2019 Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund/USHJA Emerging Athletes Program is April 1. The deadline to apply for Zone scholarships and academic grants is July 1, and grants to support hosting educational clinics close October 1.

These Zone grants and scholarships are offered in addition to various opportunities available through the USHJA Foundation, which include the $25,000 Hamel Scholarship for Further Education, Gochman Grant for Pony Finals, JT Tallon Memorial Equitation Grant, Making A Dream Grant, and emergency assistance available through the Horseman’s Assistance Fund.
