The USHJA Young Hunter Pony Championships aims to develop the Hunter Breeding sport and create opportunities for current and new owners, breeders and handlers to showcase talented young Hunter pony prospects.
The USHJA Young Hunter Pony Championships offers the following sections Hunter Pony Four- and Five-Year-Olds 2’, Hunter Pony Four- and Five-Year-Olds 2’ or 2’3” (exhibitor’s choice), Hunter Pony Six- and Seven-Year-Olds 2'3" or 2'6" (exhibitor’s choice) to be made up of one model, one under saddle class and two over fences classes. A division for Five-Year-Olds and under for ponies not competing in the Four- and Five-Year-Olds over fences classes will also be offered and will include an under saddle class, an under saddle class to be made up of 30% conformation, and a model. Adults on Ponies presented by Saddle Lake Equestrian (exhibitors’ choice of 2’, 2’3”, or 2’6”), open to Professional or Amateur riders.
While riders in the USHJA Young Hunter Pony Championships must be juniors, sections are not further restricted by the age of junior competitors.
Beginning in 2023, the Young Hunter Pony Championship also offers a second location in the central part of the country.
